These are the qualities which will lead you to become who you really are. It is hard and continuous work. that is why it's been called the Great Wrok by all the master teachers.

Star Maiden Circle
As a tool, the Star Maiden Circle is fascinating and valuable. Step around the compass and examine each of the main points:

South  "In the South is your mythology and your entertainment. In essence," Swiftdeer said, "it's your pain tape game and your survival adaptabliliy.
Southwest   In the Southwest is the way you deal with your environment. It's the way you process experience.
West   In the West is your daydream. It's the way you actualize; whether or not you get off your butt and try.
Northwest    In the Northwest are all your rules and laws, all your do's and don'ts, your morals and ethics. It's also the way you image yourself as a human being. Are you part of the planet's problem, or are you part of the planet's solution?
North    In the North is your whole philosophy, your belief systems, your points of view and your opinions. How do they formulate the way you look at the world, affect ryour perceptual view of rality?
Northeast    Northeast is your choreography of energy. It's the place where you must make your choices, make your decisions, arrange your prioities about what it is that you're doing, and then put it all together.
Eastt    "The East is the place of your fantasy. do you have a sacred vision? Do you have a goal that you've realistically moved toward, or is it pure fantasy?
Southeast    The Southeast is the starting place and the ending place. It's not only your attitude on the eight-movement wheel, but also your concepts, how you think about everything. Most important, what is your inner self-concept?
Seven Arrows of the Self-Concept
There are other structures to consider as well. For younger warriors, the "Seven Arrows of the Self-Concept" is another valuable tool of self-discovery.
They need to first look at the self-awareness. Second, their self-appreciateion; third, their self-acceptance; fourth, their self-pleasure (In the context of these tools, self-pleasure means that you try to learn as quickly as you can without pain as one of your teachers. Most important, it means absence of guilt, blame and shame.) Fifth, young warriors must look at their self-love; sixth, their self-actualization; seventh is their impeccability. Do they practice what they preach?
In essence, what Reagan did was to combine the Native American Star Maiden Circle with the four cardinals from the Ten-no-Kishi that he was given, to create a complete system of self-realization for the warrior.

Applicaiton
One way to use theis method for self-discovery would be to take a given technique, say, a reverse punch, and work it on each of the eight different aspects of the technique. Spend five minutes a day on each of the eight different aspects of that technique. Examine how your emotions relate to its use, so that when it's time for you to use that technique, it can come from a clean emotional space that's uncluttered with your own fears and shame. Void of reservations, you can operate cleanly.
And make no mistake–these teachings are not merly for a style or system.
"The reality,"Swiftdeer said finally, "is that I see it as a human development system. My desire is that marital artists become warriors."
